Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez avoids the body shot from Sharp.

Sharp changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gomez fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Sharp drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sharp jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sharp tightens his grip and picks Gomez up, before dumping him to the ground. Gomez manages to land in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sharp bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Gomez forces Sharp back against the cage and clinches.

Gomez is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Sharp has denied him.

Sharp winds up and cracks Gomez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sharp lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sharp takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Sharp is nestled in close to Gomez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gomez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sharp is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gomez is looking to escape.
Sharp looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gomez gets back to full guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Sharp moves into the clinch.
Sharp drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gomez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Sharp is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sharp throws an elbow that misses.

Gomez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sharp has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Sharp is working for takedown but Gomez is calmly controlling the position for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sharp gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sharp is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Gomez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sharp keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Sharp's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sharp is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Gomez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
