Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cary Oneil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Brown has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cary Oneil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Brown!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oneil takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Brown throws a series of punches but Oneil avoids them all with ease.
As Brown tries to get set, Oneil tries to push him back and clinch up but Brown manages to avoid the attempt.

Brown takes the fight into the clinch.
Oneil is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Brown breaks from the clinch.

Brown fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Oneil to the ground. Brown is now in Oneil's guard.
Oneil looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown trying to control but Oneil is working from the bottom.

Brown passes Oneil's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oneil is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Oneil has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brown can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Brown is fighting to break Oneil's control of his arms but Oneil is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Brown pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oneil is keeping the position for now.

Oneil pulls Brown in close to his closed guard and prevents Brown from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brown wants to stand and escape but instead Oneil has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Oneil decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into Oneil's guard.

Oneil pushes Brown off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Oneil fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Brown to the ground. Oneil is now in Brown's guard.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but Oneil passes into half guard.
Brown looks winded!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Oneil looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brown with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Oneil is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brown is just riding it out for now. Oneil eventually gives up the hold.
Brown is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cary Oneil will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Oneil tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brown tries to counter by closing the distance.

Brown shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Oneil manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Oneil bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.

Oneil will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Oneil is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brown knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brown closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oneil's guard.

Oneil has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Brown is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Oneil takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Oneil throws a sloppy head kick and Brown moves out of range easily.
Oneil is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brown can do to turn this around?
Oneil shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.

Brown closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Oneil quickly recovers to half guard.

Oneil has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Brown is on him like a limpet, forcing Oneil back against the cage.

Oneil decides to pull guard.
Oneil is pulling down on Brown's head to control his posture.
Oneil continues to stall.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Oneil for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Brown has a couple of punches blocked by Oneil.

Brown is trying to trip Oneil. He has hold of a leg but Oneil is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Brown persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Oneil wants to sweep here but Brown controlling him for the moment.
Brown trying to control but Oneil is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Oneil is on top in guard.

Oneil lands a couple of elbows.

Oneil scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Oneil with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Oneil working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brown's head.
Oneil stands up over Brown, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Oneil gets to his feet - Brown follows without any prompting.

and Oneil holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Brown tries to stall but Oneil uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Brown has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Oneil regains guard immediately.

Oneil is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Oneil is pushing Brown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Oneil, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
