The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calzone misses with a wild combination.
Sloppy strikes from Calzone . Those never looked like landing.
Calzone ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Shoemaker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shoemaker rushes Calzone and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shoemaker is working Calzone over against the cage.
Calzone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shoemaker scores with a nice hook to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Shoemaker fails to land.
Calzone wants to get back to striking at distance but Shoemaker won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shoemaker gets underhooks to prevent Calzone 's takedown attempt.
Calzone tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Calzone tries to land a knee to the head but Shoemaker blocks with his arms.
Calzone takes a shot to the head.

Shoemaker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Calzone lands a head kick!

Shoemaker has taken the fight to the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Shoemaker.
Shoemaker swings wildly with an uppercut but Calzone uses good head movement to avoid it.
Shoemaker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Calzone blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Calzone .

Calzone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Calzone lands a nice looking body kick.
Calzone swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shoemaker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Calzone looks winded!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shoemaker clinches up with Calzone and pushes him back against the cage.
Calzone tries to circle away but Shoemaker has him pinned against the cage.

Shoemaker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Calzone tries to clinch but Shoemaker moves out of range.
Shoemaker throwing a counter right hand but Calzone manages to avoid it.

Shoemaker pushes Calzone up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Shoemaker fails to land.
Shoemaker lands a hook that snaps the head of Calzone backwards.
Shoemaker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Calzone is trying to break the clinch but Shoemaker is controlling him.

Calzone blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Calzone throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Calzone has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Shoemaker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jido Shoemaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donnie Calzone .
Calzone is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shoemaker is defending well for now.

Shoemaker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shoemaker rushes Calzone and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Calzone tries to break the clinch but Shoemaker is controlling the position.
Shoemaker creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Calzone 's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Calzone drops to his knees and Shoemaker pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
