Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Laverne Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Gleen!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gleen clinches.
Martin lands a nice shot to the body.
Martin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gleen walks away with a smile on his face. Martin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gleen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jason Gleen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gleen shoots in but Martin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Martin really is a fat lump.

Gleen clinches with his opponent.

Gleen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gleen scores with a takedown into Martin's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin pulls Gleen in to control the position.
Gleen sitting in guard here, content to control.

Gleen is looking to work some ground and pound but Martin has wrist control.
Gleen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Martin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Martin wants to stand but Gleen is controlling the position.
Gleen is looking to pass into half guard but Martin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Martin is in guard.

Gleen controls Martin momentarily but Martin frees himself.

Gleen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Martin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gleen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Martin is one step ahead there.

Martin stands up from Gleen's guard - Martin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Gleen tries for a takedown but Martin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Martin feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Gleen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gleen fails with a takedown attempt.
Laverne Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Gleen.

Gleen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Martin controlling the action here for a moment.

Martin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gleen with a poor takedown
and Martin counters with a low kick, right behind Gleen 's knee.
Martin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gleen moves into the clinch.
Martin is trying to drag Gleen to the mat but Gleen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Martin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gleen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gleen working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Martin landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Martin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Martin dodges the punch combination from Gleen.
Gleen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gleen clinches.
Gleen prevents a takedown attempt there.

Martin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Gleen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gleen moves into the clinch successfully.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Gleen.


It looks like Laverne Martin has been cut.

Gleen breaks from the clinch.

Martin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Martin pushes Gleen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gleen.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee asks Gleen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gleen prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gleen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Martin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gleen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gleen decides to stand back up. Gleen steps back and let's Martin get back to his feet.
Martin blocks the body kick.
Gleen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gleen shoots in but Martin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gleen feints and as Martin raises his hands in defense, Gleen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Martin wriggles free and stands up.

Martin shoots in and gets a takedown into Gleen's guard.

Gleen scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gleen moves into range and clinches up with Martin.

Martin lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Gleen manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gleen doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Martin counters with a head kick. That will keep Gleen thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gleen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gleen wants to control but Martin is keeping him busy.
Gleen taking a breather here.

Gleen has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Martin is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gleen yanks on the arm and Martin is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gleen.
