Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Willy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Dow!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dow cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Dow closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Willy quickly recovers to half guard.

Dow looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dow not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Willy tries to kick Dow off but Dow keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Willy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Willy pushes Dow off looking to stand but Dow dives back in and keeps control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Willy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Willy is trying to control but can't.
Dow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Willy keeps working.

Willy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dow's guard.
Dow doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Willy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dow wants to sweep but no luck.

Willy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dow is proving hard to escape from.
Willy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dow has an active guard here but Willy has managed to pass into half guard.

Willy seems to be working for a kimura but Dow defends the submission attempt.
Willy looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Willy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dow does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Willy will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Willy is defended easily by Dow.
And Dow tries to counter it with a takedown but Willy pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Willy is trying to force a seperation but Dow has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dow has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Willy uses from the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Willy wants to stand up but Dow has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Willy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dow tries to kick Willy off but Willy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Willy wants to stand up but Dow has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Dow is not content to let Willy control the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nice jab there from Dow.

Willy misses with a leg kick
and Dow counters with a shoot takedown. Willy fights it but they end up in guard.
Willy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Willy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Willy is tightening it up a little... Dow has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dow reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dow taps out! Nice BJJ there by Willy!
