Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ruslan Khabilov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmie Connor!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khabilov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Connor defends it nicely.
Connor steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Khabilov.
Khabilov throws a sloppy head kick
and Connor counters with a nice body shot.
Khabilov instigates a clinch.
Khabilov tries to pull guard but Connor forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Connor goes for a takedown attempt but Khabilov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Khabilov lands a nice looking body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Connor has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Khabilov uses from the top position.
Connor seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Connor tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Khabilov presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Connor is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Connor tries to reverse the position but Khabilov maintains control.
Khabilov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Connor is looking to escape.
Connor holds on to Khabilov around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Connor tries to hold on but Khabilov pushes him away.
Khabilov sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Connor can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connor holds on to Khabilov as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

Khabilov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Connor swats away the attempt to clinch by Khabilov.
Connor tries to close the distance and clinch but Khabilov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Khabilov gets control of Connor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Khabilov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Khabilov can't keep his opponent in guard - Connor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Khabilov wants to control but Connor is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Connor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khabilov's head.
Connor takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Khabilov is looking to escape.
Khabilov manages to get to full guard.
Connor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Khabilov, up you get!
Khabilov slaps away a takedown attempt from Connor, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Khabilov jumps guard but Connor stands there with Khabilov around his waist. Khabilov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Khabilov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Connor's waist but Connor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Khabilov off to one side.
