Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pe Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gon Non (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pe Johnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pe Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gon Non!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Non lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Non keeps it at a distance.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Non is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Non is trying to control but can't.
Johnson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Non manages to get to full guard.
Johnson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson wants to get up but he can't break Non's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Non has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Johnson can't keep his opponent in guard - Non advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Johnson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Non on the ground.

Non escapes and gets back to his feet.
Johnson closes the distance but Non moves to the side
and Non counters with a one-two to the body.
Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Non tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Non to the ground. Non escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Non scores with a takedown into Johnson's guard.

Non drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Non jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Non doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Non manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Non in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Non postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnson trying to keep a closed guard but Non is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Non from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Non throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Non's guard.
Non tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Johnson wants to get up but he can't break Non's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Non looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Non pushes Johnson off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt
and Non counters with a straight right hand.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Non looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Non explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Non looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Johnson!
Johnson is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gon Non dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Johnson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Non has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Non keeps working.
Johnson wants to stand but Non has his arm trapped.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Non manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Johnson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Non is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Non wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.
Johnson won't allow Non to sweep him here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Non is keeping the position.
Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Non has Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Non escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson is looking to clinch.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Non scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Pe Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Non is defended easily by Johnson.

Non misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Non changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Non manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pe Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gon Non.

Non shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Pe Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Non shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Non's waist but Non gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Non looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Non tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Non ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Non as he avoids it easily.
Non is looking for the big counter here.

A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Johnson jumps guard but Non turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Non throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Johnson is looking for a takedown.

Non pulls guard.
Johnson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Non pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
Gon Non has got the better of the ground game so far.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Non is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gon Non showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab.
Non looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Non persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.
Non swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Non is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Johnson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Non!

Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Non has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Johnson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Non throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Non finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Non takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Johnson is looking for a triangle but Non pushes his legs off easily.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Non controlling him for the moment.
Non throwing strikes but missing.
Johnson controlling the position.
Non trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

Non scoring with punches to the head and body.

Non gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.
Non closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Non pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pe Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gon Non.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Non circles away quickly and effectively.
Non shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Johnson wants to clinch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Non will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Non napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Johnson decides to stand back up. Johnson steps back and let's Non get back to his feet.
Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnson lands a jab.
Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Non sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Non tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Non swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Pe Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gon Non is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Non stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Non wants it to stay on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Gon Non.
Well Non has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
