PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jiri Sayonara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sayonara comes to the cage accompanied by Edge Of The Blade. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jiri Sayonara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Ramos !
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramos looking to score a takedown here. Sayonara is defending well but Ramos drives through and ends up in Sayonara's guard.

Sayonara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ramos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramos postures up and lands a big shot to Sayonara's brow.
Ramos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sayonara's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ramos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've been hearing good reports from Sayonara's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ramos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sayonara's guard.


Sayonara had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ramos defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ramos tries to close the distance and clinch but Sayonara swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ramos shoots in looking for a takedown. Sayonara tries to sprawl out of it but Ramos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sayonara manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sayonara takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sayonara wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ramos connects with a nice short shot to Sayonara's temple.

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Ramos looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Sayonara can't hide his disappointment, as Ramos celebrates the victory.
