The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornell swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kramer has Cornell up against the cage in a clinch.

Cornell misses with a few strikes there.

Kramer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kramer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Kramer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Cornell jumps into guard, dragging Kramer to the mat.
Cornell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kramer is looking to work some ground and pound but Cornell has wrist control.

Cornell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Cornell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kramer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cornell has managed to get both his arms back between Kramer's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kramer pushes Cornell off looking to stand but Cornell dives back in and keeps control.

Kramer seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Cornell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kramer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cornell wants to control but Kramer is keeping busy.
Cornell has his hands clasped together around Kramer's back. He's all about the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cornell is trying to control Kramer's posture but Kramer avoids it.

Cornell wants to break free but Kramer has control.

Let's hope that Cornell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cornell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cornell is continuing to stall.
Cornell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cornell is trying to control the position but Kramer postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cornell throws a nice looking combination but Kramer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cornell throws a right and a left that Kramer avoids nicely.

Cornell gets tackled into the cage by Kramer. Kramer maintains the clinch.
Kramer on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kramer obliges.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cornell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mel Kramer will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Cornell wants to counter with a clinch but Kramer pushes him away.

Cornell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cornell decides to stand up.
Kramer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cornell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cornell feints the counter takedown.
Cornell keeps the fight on the outside.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cornell. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Cornell throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cornell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kramer takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Cornell is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kramer's half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cornell stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Cornell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cornell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cornell goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kramer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cornell's guard! Nice work there by Kramer!
Cornell is looking to sweep but instead, Kramer has passed into half guard.
Kramer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cornell is looking to control Kramer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cornell avoid being mounted?
Cornell is looking to improve his position.
Kramer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cornell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kramer lands a nice short elbow.
Cornell wants to control but Kramer is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kramer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Cornell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cornell shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kramer is trying to defend but Cornell finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

I think Cornell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
