PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony O Rangers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knut Paulsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think O Rangers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hold on to you. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony O Rangers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Knut Paulsen!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulsen misses with a wild body shot.
O Rangers takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
O Rangers fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Paulsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but O Rangers manages to avoid it.
O Rangers fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Paulsen tries a quick counter leg kick but O Rangers is wise to it.
O Rangers fails with the takedown
and Paulsen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

O Rangers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Paulsen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

O Rangers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paulsen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

O Rangers taking a break here but Paulsen is having none of it and regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
O Rangers works his foot free and advances to mount.
Paulsen is trying desperately to improve position.
O Rangers pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Paulsen is wriggling around trying to escape.
O Rangers tries to control but Paulsen wriggling away.

O Rangers is really struggling to control Paulsen but he's trying to hold on to the position.
O Rangers postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Paulsen looks a forlorn figure.
O Rangers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Paulsen tries to lock up and control but O Rangers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
O Rangers fails to advance to Paulsen's back.
Paulsen is desperately trying to improve his position but O Rangers has a good base and remains in mount.

O Rangers throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
O Rangers looking to control but Paulsen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Paulsen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
O Rangers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Paulsen is looking to escape.

and Paulsen makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. O Rangers really felt that one!
Paulsen throws a head kick that O Rangers semi-blocks.
Paulsen swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Paulsen.
Paulsen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Paulsen there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paulsen looks to throw the jab but O Rangers is out of range.
Paulsen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Paulsen is clearly trying to counter these attacks from O Rangers with a body shot.

O Rangers ducks under a wild hook from Paulsen.
Paulsen slips a jab and a cross from O Rangers.
Paulsen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
O Rangers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paulsen but Paulsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
O Rangers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

O Rangers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Paulsen. Paulsen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Paulsen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits O Rangerss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
O Rangers throws a hook but Paulsen blocks it.
Paulsen moves out of range of the strikes.
Paulsen shapes to counter with a head kick.
Paulsen slips under a jab from O Rangers.
Paulsen throws a nice outside leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Paulsen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by O Rangers.

O Rangers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Paulsen's head.
Paulsen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. O Rangers looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

O Rangers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

O Rangers is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Paulsen sees it coming and defends easily.
O Rangers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

O Rangers throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Paulsen on the side of the head.

O Rangers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paulsen's waist but Paulsen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing O Rangers off to one side.
It seemed like Paulsen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

O Rangers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paulsen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
