Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sigurd Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wallace comes into the arena with Down with the Sickness (instrumental) -Disturbed blaring out of the sound system. Joe Hughs has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sigurd Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 49 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hughs!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace misses with a wild body shot.
Sloppy strikes from Hughs. Those never looked like landing.
Hughs scores with a nice right hand.
Hughs lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Hughs clinches up with Wallace and pushes him back against the cage.

Hughs manages to break the clinch.

Wallace shoots in and bounces Hughs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hughs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hughs keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom.
Wallace slips nicely into half guard.
Wallace is keen to just control but Hughs is a slippery customer.
Wallace is looking to advance position but Hughs won't allow it.

Wallace is looking for a kimura but Hughs is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wallace to get the leverage.

Wallace avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hughs tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wallace is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hughs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wallace postures up in Hughs's guard and throws a big left but Hughs blocks it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hughs throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Hughs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Sigurd Wallace will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wallace seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hughs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wallace is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hughs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Wallace is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hughs is just riding it out for now. Wallace eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wallace wants to pass the guard but Hughs is defending well.
Wallace prevents Hughs from improving his position.
Wallace wants to take a breather but Hughs is having none of it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hughs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wallace's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wallace's back!
Wallace has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Wallace tries to escape but Hughs has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Wallace got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hughs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wallace has managed to get both his arms back between Hughs's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wallace tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wallace has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sigurd Wallace showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wallace, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
