Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gregorio Fitzgerald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Rivers!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivers gets the takedown into side control.

Rivers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fitzgerald knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rivers swings around for an armbar but Fitzgerald sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rivers's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

That was a close round but I would say that Gregorio Fitzgerald will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fitzgerald connects with a nice short shot to Rivers's temple.
Fitzgerald is nestled in close to Rivers, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rivers is looking for a sweep. Fitzgerald is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fitzgerald has hold of Rivers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rivers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Paul Rivers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gregorio Fitzgerald is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fitzgerald, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
