The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malik connects with a jab.
Viceroy lands a nice looking body shot.
Malik jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Malik has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A big right from Viceroy misses.
Viceroy fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Viceroy looks to land a combination but Malik avoids it well.
Malik throws a hook but Viceroy blocks it.

Viceroy lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Malik sprawling to the canvas. Viceroy follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Malik hang on?

It looks like Byron Malik has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Viceroy lands a nice short elbow.

Viceroy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Malik is trying to maintain the position but Viceroy is very close to passing his half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Viceroy's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Viceroy loads up on a big left hand. Malik felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Viceroy looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Malik can't hide his disappointment, as Viceroy celebrates the victory.
