PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Neymar Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Urai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santos comes into the arena with Garota de Ipanema blaring out of the sound system. Urai has chosen Sever the Wicked as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Neymar Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 2, fighting out of London, Sam Urai!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Santos does no damage.
Santos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Urai.
Santos checks a leg kick nicely.
Santos takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Santos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Urai misses with a looping right.
A slow jab from Santos misses its intended target.
Santos scores with a kick to the midsection.
Urai just misses with a punch to the body.
A combination from Santos does no damage.
Urai appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Urai! But no joy.
Urai tests Santos's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Neymar Santos has been cut.
Urai takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Good exchange - Urai coming out on top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A left lands for Urai.
Santos misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Urai.
Santos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Urai cracks Santos with an open hand slap.
Santos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Urai scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Santos doesn't seem bothered though.
Santos lands a front kick.

Santos blocks a low kick nicely.
Santos on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Santos lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Santos lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Santos takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Urai takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
It seemed like Urai was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Urai throws a head kick that misses.
We've been told by Santos's head coaches at Ballshoi Ballet 3 that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Santos misses with an uppercut.
Urai let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Santos tries to land a front kick but Urai steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Santos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Urai manages to avoid it.
Santos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santos misses with a hook. Urai ducked under it nicely.
Urai throws the left hand but Santos avoids the punch easily.
Urai waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Santos.
Urai paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Neymar Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Santos.
Santos scores with a push kick.
Santos lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Sam Urai has been cut.
Urai lands a leg kick that knocks Santos off balance momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos tests Urai's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Santos misses with a jab, cross combination.
A nice side step and Urai releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Santos takes a swing at Urai's ribcage but misses.
Santos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Urai stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Santos looks to land a left hand but Urai moved out of range nicely.
Santos misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Urai.
Urai misses with an uppercut. Santos saw that one coming.

Urai throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Santos on the side of the head.
Urai is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Urai steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Santos.
Urai tries to counter with a clinch but Santos shakes him off and moves away.
Santos on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


Santos is rocked!
Santos lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Oh Santos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Urai tries to clinch but Santos moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Urai swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Urai blocks a head kick by Santos.
Urai throws a half hearted mid kick.
Santos is looking to counter with head kicks.
Santos is looking to slow Urai down with leg kicks.
Urai drops Santos with a big left hand! Santos is injured, injured bad! Urai jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Urai!
Sam Urai decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
The defeated Neymar Santos had this to say: 'Merda!'.
