PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathaniel Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halo has chosen Motorhead - The King Of Kings as his entrance music. Arthur Halo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathaniel Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Arthur Halo!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halo throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Armstrong counter with a right hand.
Halo shoots for a takedown but Armstrong saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Armstrong misses with a straight right.
Halo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Halo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Halo throws a lazy uppercut
and Armstrong counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Armstrong ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Halo ducks under a wild hook from Armstrong.
Halo feints the counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Halo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Armstrong.
Armstrong fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Halo on the side of the head.
Halo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Armstrong avoids it really well and circles away.
We've been told by Armstrong's head coaches at LOD London Top Tier that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Nathaniel Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Halo.

Halo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Armstrong.

Armstrong throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Halo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Armstrong.

Halo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Halo showed some decent athleticism there.
Halo tries to pass to full mount but Armstrong defends it.

Halo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Armstrong doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Halo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Halo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Halo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Armstrong pinned against the cage. Armstrong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Armstrong swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Halo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Armstrong is trying to defend but Halo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Halo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Armstrong some visible discomfort.

Armstrong is trying to control Halo's posture but Halo avoids it.

Halo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Armstrong rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Halo's guard! Nice work there by Armstrong!
Our spies down at at FIERCE inform us that Halo has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Armstrong is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Halo is trying to escape and Armstrong transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Halo is forced to tap! Nice work there by Armstrong! Very nice indeed!
