Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Swagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Swagger's choice of entrance music: A Country Boy Can Survive. Tom Johnson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Swagger!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws an overhand right that lands on Swagger's shoulder, as Swagger tries to avoid the shot.
Johnson looks to land a left hand but Swagger moved out of range nicely.
Johnson throws a jab when Swagger was well out of range.
Johnson sets himself, and Swagger steps forward looking for the clinch! Johnson avoids it this time.
Swagger moves out of range as Johnson strikes.
Swagger throws out a counter right but Johnson avoids it with no problem.
Swagger tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Swagger ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Swagger counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Swagger.
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Swagger's guard.

Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swagger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Swagger felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Swagger is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Johnson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Swagger, who protects the arm well.

Swagger is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Johnson is controlling him well.
Swagger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johnson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Johnson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Swagger is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Johnson is working Swagger over with some ground and pound from side control.
Johnson throws an elbow but Swagger slips to the side and avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Swagger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Johnson.


It looks like Bob Swagger has been cut.

Johnson has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Swagger is defending well but eventually Johnson manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Swagger has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
