The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velderman connects with a jab.
Fillipe looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Velderman scores with a punch to the head.
Fillipe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Velderman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Velderman was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Velderman misses with an uppercut

and Fillipe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Fillipe passes to full mount!
Fillipe sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
It looks like Fillipe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Fillipe won't let Velderman get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Fillipe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fillipe works his way to his opponent's back.
Velderman is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
What can Velderman do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Fillipe is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Velderman won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Fillipe off his unconscious opponent!
