PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eamonn Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kely Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eamonn Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kely Storm!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Storm looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Murphy gets a double leg takedown into Storm's guard.
Storm trying to strike off his back.
Murphy pushes down on Storm's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Murphy stands up out of the half guard.
Storm tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Murphy defends well and Storm ends up having to push Murphy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm tries to clinch but Murphy moves out of range.
Storm shoots in looking for a takedown. Murphy tries to sprawl out of it but Storm keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murphy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Eamonn Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kely Storm.

Storm wants to stand back up but Murphy manages to pass into side control.

You can see the frustration on Storm's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Murphy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Storm throws a combination. Murphy tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Eamonn Murphy has been cut.

Murphy takes the fight into the clinch.

Storm is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murphy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Storm's efforts to push away.

Storm gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Murphy regains guard.
Murphy wants to get back to his feet but Storm passes into half guard.

Storm thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Storm in particular looking to stall.
Murphy is looking to control Storm's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Murphy avoid being mounted?
Storm is keen to just control but Murphy is a slippery customer.
Storm content to control rather than advance.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Storm has eaten all the pies!

Storm is looking for a kimura but Murphy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Storm to get the leverage.
Storm prevents Murphy from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Storm is controlling the pace.
Storm trying to pass the guard but Murphy defending well.
Murphy is trying to control but Storm manages to pass to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kely Storm will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Eamonn Murphy's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Storm throws a head kick that misses.
Murphy shoots in but Storm avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Murphy drives through with a takedown into Storm's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Murphy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Storm is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Murphy defends well.
Storm trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Murphy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Storm has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murphy has managed to get both his arms back between Storm's legs - danger averted.
Murphy tries to free his leg and advance position but Storm is retaining full guard.

Storm is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Murphy is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murphy advances to half guard.
Storm trying to control from the bottom.
Storm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Murphy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Murphy's back!
I really don't envy Murphy right now.

Murphy defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Storm's arms.
Storm controlling well, preventing Murphy from escaping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Murphy is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Storm controlling the positon.
Murphy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Storm on the ground.
Storm gets his hands free as Murphy looks to control.

Storm is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Storm keeps control of the position as Murphy tries to break free.

Storm struggling to keep hold of the position.

Storm has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Murphy is in real trouble here. Storm gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Murphy is tapping out! Storm wins by rear naked choke!
