Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mason Capwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Axelsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johan Axelsson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mason Capwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johan Axelsson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Axelsson gets the takedown into side control.
Axelsson lands a decent elbow from side control.
Capwell tries to improve position but can't.
Capwell controls the position for a moment.

Axelsson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Capwell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Axelsson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Capwell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Capwell is looking for a sweep.
Axelsson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Axelsson is looking to take a break and control but Capwell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Capwell regains half guard, as Axelsson was trying to land strikes.
Capwell is staying active underneath Axelsson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Axelsson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Axelsson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Axelsson is looking to sweep but instead, Capwell has passed into half guard.
Capwell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Axelsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Capwell's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Capwell fails to land the takedown.
Axelsson scores with a jab. Capwell acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Capwell avoids the body shot from Axelsson.
Mason Capwell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Capwell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Axelsson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johan Axelsson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Capwell shoots in looking for a takedown. Axelsson tries to sprawl out of it but Capwell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Axelsson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Axelsson passes into half guard.
Axelsson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Axelsson is trying to control the action in half guard but Capwell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Capwell won't allow Axelsson to pass to mount.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Capwell shoots for a takedown but Axelsson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A little jabbing left from Axelsson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Axelsson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Capwell to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Axelsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Capwell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Capwell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Capwell stays in close to Axelsson's body and controls the position.
Axelsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Axelsson wants to stand and escape but Capwell is having none of it.

Well Axelsson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
