PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vince Tillman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monty Migo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vince Tillman had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vince Tillman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Monty Migo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Migo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Tillman on the side of the head.
Nice straight punches there by Migo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Migo.
Tillman tries to clinch up but Migo circles away and keeps his distance.
Tillman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Tillman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Migo pinned against the cage. Migo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A little jabbing left from Migo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Decent striking displayed by Migo there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Migo pushes Tillman up against the cage in a clinch.
Migo tries to circle away but Tillman has him pinned against the cage.

Migo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tillman uses from the top position.
Migo wants to stand but Tillman is controlling the position.

Tillman postures up in Migo's guard and throws a big left but Migo blocks it.
Tillman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Migo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Migo wants to improve his position but instead Tillman has moved into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tillman connects with a nice short shot to Migo's temple.

Tillman is looking for a kimura but Migo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tillman to get the leverage.

Tillman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Tillman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Tillman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Migo pushes Tillman off looking to stand but Tillman dives back in and keeps control.
Migo is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Migo, as that shot connected.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A nice combination there by Migo.
Tillman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Migo throws a series of punches but Tillman moves out of range.
Migo throws a one two combo.
Tillman really is a fat lump.
Migo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Tillman closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Migo looks winded!
Migo works over Tillman's head and body with a nice combination.
Migo misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tillman dodges the punch combination from Migo.
Tillman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monty Migo dominated that round.

Tillman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Migo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And Tillman counters with a quick kick to the body but Migo blocks it.
Migo scores with a decent looking hook.
Tillman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A right-left combo lands from Migo.

Migo connects with a crisp jab.

Migo has Tillman up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Migo's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Migo working aggressively here.
Tillman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Migo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Tillman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tillman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Migo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tillman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tillman shoots in but no luck this time.

Migo throws a looping overhand right but Tillman ducks down to avoid it.

Monty Migo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tillman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Migo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Monty Migo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Migo moves into the clinch.
Migo is looking to break free of the clinch but Tillman has double underhooks.
Migo lands an uppercut.
Tillman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Migo walks away with a smile on his face. Tillman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Migo darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Migo scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Migo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tillman, pushing him back against the cage.
Migo can't break the clinch.

Tillman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Migo is aware though and is defending well.
Migo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Migo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tillman wants to stand up but Migo is controlling him.

Migo stands and steps away. Tillman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Migo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Migo moves into range and connects with a jab.

Migo sizes up Tillman with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Migo won't allow Tillman to get back to his feet.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Tillman manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Migo stands up and waves to Tillman to follow him.
Migo closes the distance and lands a one-two.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tillman.
Migo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Monty Migo seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Migo works the jab nicely.
Tillman looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Nice uppercut there from Migo.
Migo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Migo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tillman circles away quickly and effectively.
Tillman half committed to a counter leg kick.
Tillman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Migo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Migo throws a low kick but it's checked well by Tillman.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tillman is defended easily by Migo.

And that's the end of the fight!
Monty Migo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Migo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
