PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ada Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Harbor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ada Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 33 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Harbor!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harbor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A nice inside leg kick there by Reyes. That's going to slow Harbor down.
Reyes looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Harbor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Reyes.

Harbor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reyes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Reyes throws Harbor to one side and escapes!
Harbor dives in for a single leg takedown but Reyes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Reyes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Reyes wants to stand but Harbor is controlling his posture from full guard.

Harbor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Reyes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Harbor controls Reyes momentarily but Reyes frees himself.
Harbor trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Reyes wants to stand and escape but instead Harbor has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harbor keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reyes's head.

Harbor is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Harbor is taking a breather. Reyes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Reyes throws a sloppy head kick and Harbor moves out of range easily.
Reyes steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Harbor.

Harbor throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

And Harbor tries to counter it with a takedown but Reyes pushes his down on his head and steps out.

James Harbor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Harbor avoids the head kick by Reyes.
Reyes misses the jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reyes enables Harbor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reyes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ada Reyes will probably get the nod.

Harbor doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Harbor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reyes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Harbor moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Reyes stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Harbor moves forwards but Reyes connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Harbor goes for a double leg but Reyes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reyes continues to drive forward.
Reyes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Harbor manages to avoid it.

Reyes throws a lazy right hand but Harbor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Harbor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reyes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Harbor is in Reyes's guard.

Reyes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Harbor is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reyes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
