Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Temujin Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taisto Murkula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murkula has chosen Forever Angel as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Temujin Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taisto Murkula!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murkula tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lee swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Murkula wants to clinch but Lee slips to the side

and Lee counters with a single leg into guard. Murkula didn't expect that.

Murkula looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Murkula is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Murkula wants to stand but Lee is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee wants to control from the top but Murkula keeps moving.
Lee has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Murkula is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lee is controlling him.

Murkula scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Murkula throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Murkula looks to land a body kick but Lee moved away.
Lee connects with the punch.
Lee lands a lovely overhand right.
Lee cracks the inside of Murkula's front leg.

enabling Lee to counter with a crisp jab.
Murkula changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Murkula manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee throws a counter high kick but Murkula was just alert enough to avoid it.
Lee connects with a solid leg kick.

Murkula decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Murkula wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Murkula wanted to stand there but Lee had control of the position.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murkula is one step ahead there.

Lee is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Murkula slips nicely into half guard.
Nice strikes from Murkula there.
Murkula is taking a breather. Lee says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Murkula looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lee is trying to maintain the position but Murkula is very close to passing his half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Murkula lands strikes from half guard.
Murkula is trying to control. Lee wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee is looking for a sweep. Murkula is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lee is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Murkula scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lee wants to get back to full guard.
Murkula lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Murkula is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Temujin Lee will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lee stands and throws Murkula's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Lee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Murkula tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
It looked like Lee wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Lee gets tackled into the cage by Murkula. Murkula maintains the clinch.

Lee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lee wants to control from the top but Murkula keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Murkula is pulling down on Lee's head to control his posture.
Lee scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Murkula can do to turn this around?
Lee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Murkula shoots in for a double leg but Lee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lee throws a right hand that Murkula ducks under and follows up with a left that Murkula also avoids with ease.
Murkula shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lee pinned against the cage. Lee gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Temujin Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taisto Murkula.

Murkula on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Lee. Lee obviously looking to wear him down.

Murkula closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lee did well to prevent Murkula getting side control.
Lee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Temujin Lee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lee is looking to control Murkula's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?
Murkula works his way into side control.
Lee tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murkula wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Murkula takes a little break here. Lee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Temujin Lee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
