Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Ferg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Owusu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leonard Owusu will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Ferg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leonard Owusu!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Owusu gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Owusu lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Ferg breaks the clinch.

Ferg has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Owusu after a bit of a struggle.

Ferg is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Owusu gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Owusu is pressed up against the cage. Ferg has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Owusu down to the mat. Owusu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Owusu's coach down at Cozad MMA London was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Owusu's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Tony Ferg has been cut.
Owusu dives in for a single leg takedown but Ferg sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ferg is keen to just control but Owusu is a slippery customer.
Owusu is looking for a sweep. Ferg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Owusu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Owusu's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Owusu duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ferg shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ferg showed some decent athleticism there.
Owusu tries to get to full guard but Ferg has control of the leg.

Ferg's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ferg gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ferg.
Ferg shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Owusu feints the counter takedown.
Nice sprawl there from Owusu as Ferg shoots in.
Ferg is breathing heavily.
Owusu lands a two punch combo.
Owusu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ferg but Ferg pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ferg is looking to counter with a body kick.

Owusu closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ferg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Owusu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ferg circles away quickly and effectively.
Owusu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ferg avoids it really well and circles away.
Owusu shoots in looking for a takedown but Ferg manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Owusu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ferg throws a big counter combination but Owusu scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Owusu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

No joy there for Owusu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ferg remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

A little feinted left hand from Ferg on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Owusu can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Owusu misses with a takedown attempt - Ferg sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ferg changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Owusu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Leonard Owusu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Owusu is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tony Ferg.
I think Owusu has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
