PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezio Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Constantine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franco's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, BASS. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ezio Franco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Constantine !
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Constantine leaves Franco with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Constantine looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Franco darts in looking for a takedown but Constantine gets double underhooks and turns Franco into the cage.
No luck for Franco with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ezio Franco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Franco goes for a double leg but Constantine avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Constantine continues to drive forward.
Horrible takedown attempt by Franco or perhaps it was just good defense by Constantine , which made it look bad.

Franco's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Franco has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Franco seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Constantine for as long as he can get away with.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Franco.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Constantine felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Constantine is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Franco shoots for a double leg takedown but Constantine sprawls well. He's pushed Franco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Constantine has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Franco is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Franco jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Constantine walks away with a smile on his face. Franco gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Constantine misses with a takedown attempt - Franco sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Franco closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Franco lands in his opponent's guard.

Constantine can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Franco controls the pace.
Constantine can't keep his opponent in guard - Franco advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Franco seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Constantine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Franco has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
