Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patricia Preston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Ortz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stephen Ortz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patricia Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Ortz!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston tries to clinch up.

Preston fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ortz, pushing him back against the cage.

Ortz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Ortz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Preston is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Preston has escaped and now he's on top!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Preston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Preston has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ortz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Preston's guard.

Ortz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Preston is keeping the position for now.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ortz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ortz wants to control from the top but Preston keeps moving.
Ortz postures up in Preston's guard and throws a big left but Preston blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ortz wants to pass the guard but Preston is keeping the position.
Preston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ortz on the ground.
Preston wants to improve his position but instead Ortz has moved into half guard.
Preston could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ortz seems to be looking for submissions.
Preston tries to roll over but Ortz keeps him under control.
Ortz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Preston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ortz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Preston haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Ortz drops an elbow to the side of Preston's head.

Preston is looking to improve his position.
Preston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Preston trying to hold on to Ortz's head to control him but Ortz postures up.
Ortz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ortz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ortz wants to free his trapped foot but Preston is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ortz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ortz is thwarting Preston's attempts to control the position.
Ortz scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Ortz is pressing down on Preston's thigh, looking to free his foot. Preston is holding on for now.
Ortz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ortz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


It looks like Patricia Preston has been cut.
Ortz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Preston won't allow Ortz to pass to mount.

Ortz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Preston is trying to maintain the position but Ortz is very close to passing his half guard.

Ortz is working for a kimura but Preston is defending it quite comfortably.
Well, if Ortz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ortz is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Preston has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Preston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ortz scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Preston doesn't manage to clinch there - Ortz circles away.
Ortz misses with a series of wild punches.

Ortz closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A frustrated look appears on Preston's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ortz has Preston pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ortz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Preston tumbling to the mat - Ortz dives into Preston's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ortz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Preston keeping full guard, as Ortz tries to pass.
Preston preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Preston controls Ortz momentarily but Ortz frees himself.
Preston is looking to stand up but Ortz isn't so interested in that idea.
Ortz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ortz forces his way into half guard.
Ortz works his way into side control.

Ortz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ortz lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Check out the look on Ortz's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ortz trying to control the action but Preston is working from the bottom.

Ortz is trying to get an arm triangle but Preston is defending well.
Ortz wants to control but Preston is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortz landing strikes.

Ortz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ortz working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Ortz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Preston!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortz fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Ortz tries to advance to mount but Preston denies him.

Ortz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ortz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Preston is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Ortz landing a few strikes.
Ortz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ortz is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Preston is trying to escape and Ortz transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Preston is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ortz! Very nice indeed!
