Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Watsz Mawe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo is looking to clinch but Mawe is avoiding it.
Aldo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Aldo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mawe!
Aldo shoots and misses
and Mawe counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Mawe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mawe wants it to stay on the feet.
Aldo doesn't manage to clinch there - Mawe circles away.
Aldo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mawe tries to avoid it but Aldo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mawe to the ground. Mawe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mawe swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Watsz Mawe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.
Mawe scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Mawe misses the shot to the body.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mawe as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Mawe was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Aldo.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mawe. Aldo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Aldo wants to clinch
and Mawe makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Aldo closes the distance and clinches up with Mawe, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes Mawe against the cage but Mawe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mawe cracks Aldo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

and Mawe counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Aldo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mawe lands a right hook to the body.
Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mawe connects with a single shot there.
Mawe misses with a two punch combination.
Mawe throws a right hand that Aldo ducks under and follows up with a left that Aldo also avoids with ease.
Mawe is looking to wear down Aldo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Aldo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Mawe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mawe is trying to pull guard but Aldo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mawe tries to score a body lock takedown but Aldo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Aldo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mawe prevents the takedown attempt.

Mawe successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Aldo looking to sit in guard and control but Mawe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mawe throws a big right hand that misses.
Mawe throws a big elbow that misses.

Mawe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aldo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aldo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aldo!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Watsz Mawe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Aldo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mawe counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mawe throws a series of punches but Aldo moves out of range.
Aldo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mawe appears to be looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A combination from Mawe does no damage.
Mawe stalks Aldo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Aldo's face. Aldo staggers backwards, shaken.
Aldo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mawe is fending him off so far but Aldo persists. Nope, Mawe circles away and we're back to standing.
Watsz Mawe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.

Mawe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mawe works Aldo's body with a nice hook.
Mawe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Aldo can do to turn this around?
Mawe lands a lovely overhand right.

Mawe connects with a right that clearly hurt Aldo. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Mawe proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Aldo collapses and taps out under the pressure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Watsz Mawe!
A less than humble Watsz Mawe misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
