Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 wins, 30 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luana Peroba Filgueiras!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Filgueiras to the mat! Filgueiras manages to get full guard.

We've been hearing reports that Pettis has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Pettis feints and as Filgueiras raises his hands in defense, Pettis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Filgueiras sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Pettis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pettis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pettis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Filgueiras shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pettis but Pettis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pettis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Filgueiras moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Filgueiras wants to stand back up but Pettis manages to pass into side control.
Pettis is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Filgueiras's shoulder. That is not cool.
Pettis lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Pettis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Filgueiras's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
