PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Hedes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy has chosen Battering Ram - 'Come Out and Fight' Irish Folk as his entrance music. Daniel Murphy looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hedes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murphy sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Murphy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hedes's guard.

Murphy stands up from Hedes's guard - Murphy perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hedes misses with a hook. Murphy ducked under it nicely.

and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hedes won't be happy with that.
Hedes is trying to escape the position but Murphy is controlling the position.

Murphy is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hedes has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Murphy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hedes uses from the top position.

The crowd cheers as Hedes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Murphy doesn't seem phased though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hedes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hedes throws an elbow that misses. Murphy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hedes's guard. Nice move by Murphy!

Murphy stands and throws Hedes's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hedes is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Murphy has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Murphy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hedes pinned against the cage. Hedes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hedes wants to land a leg kick but Murphy is out of range.
Murphy goes for a double leg but Hedes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hedes continues to drive forward.

Hedes stalling in the clinch but Murphy improves position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hedes is looking to work some ground and pound but Murphy has wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniel Murphy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Murphy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Daniel Murphy decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
