Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Amr Al As (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erick Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darko has chosen S.C.O.S.A - Flatbush Zombies as his entrance music. Amr Al As has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amr Al As!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Erick Darko!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al As throws a head kick that misses
and Darko counters with a stiff right hand.
Al As throws a hook but Darko blocks it.
Al As chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Darko misses with an uppercut. Al As saw that one coming.
Darko throws a hook but Al As blocks it.

Al As has managed to clinch.
Darko tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Al As's elbow.
Al As lands a hook that snaps the head of Darko backwards.
Darko misses with a hook to the ribs.
Darko is trying to drag Al As to the mat but Al As just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.

Al As breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Al As stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Al As wants it to stay on the feet.

Al As has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Wilder MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Al As thumps Darko with a low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A thudding body kick lands there by Al As!
Al As blocks a jab.
Darko avoids the head kick by Al As.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Al As.
Al As lands a nice hook to Darko's body. Darko takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Al As blocks a jab.
Al As connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Darko momentarily.
Al As moves out of range of the strikes.
Amr Al As seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Darko misses with an uppercut
and Darko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Al As looks to land a body kick but Darko moved away.
Darko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Al As.
Darko has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Al As takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Darko walks into a stiff left hand from Al As.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice body punch from Al As.
Al As ducks under a wild hook from Darko.
Al As appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Darko checks a leg kick nicely.
Al As throws a half hearted mid kick.
Al As lands a leg kick that knocks Darko off balance momentarily.
Darko throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Al As connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Darko loads up on a big right hand but Al As slips the punch.
Al As throwing a counter right hand but Darko manages to avoid it.
Darko might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Al As tries to clinch up but Darko circles away and keeps his distance.
Darko throws a sloppy body shot
and Al As counters with an outside leg kick.
Al As fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Al As takes a jab right on the kisser.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Al As throws a sloppy head kick and Darko moves out of range easily.
Al As takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A telegraphed right hand from Darko misses the target.
Darko changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Al As tries to avoid it but Darko manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Al As to the ground. Al As escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Amr Al As has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erick Darko.
Nice defenses there by Al As.
Al As lands a right hook to the body.
Al As clobbers Darko with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Darko fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Al As uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Darko.
Al As dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Darko. That did some damage!
Darko connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


Al As is rocked!
Darko cracks Al As with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the ropes! Al As falls to his knees and Darko doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erick Darko!
Erick Darko is the new welterweight champion!
After the fight, Erick Darko was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
