PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toivo Koskinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koskinen has chosen Nirvana - Come As You Are as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Toivo Koskinen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koskinen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Miller sprawls well initially but Koskinen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koskinen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Miller defends it well.
Miller is looking to improve his position.

Koskinen manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Miller keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Koskinen keeps control of the position as Miller tries to break free.

Koskinen is looking for a rear naked choke here but Miller reverses the position brilliantly into Koskinen's guard!

Koskinen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Miller decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Miller closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Koskinen did well to prevent Miller getting side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Miller will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Koskinen gets caught napping as Miller dives in and scores a takedown. Koskinen manages to retain guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Koskinen wants to get back to full guard.
Miller slips a nice elbow through Koskinen's hands, connecting with Koskinen's forehead.

Koskinen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koskinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Miller.
Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Nick Miller spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
