PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Debrine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Gowing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Debrine's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Best. Max Debrine has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Max Debrine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cameron Gowing!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gowing fails with a takedown attempt.
Debrine feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Debrine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gowing moves into the clinch.
Debrine looking to stall.
Debrine on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A body shot lands from Gowing.
Gowing drops down looking for an ankle pick but Debrine pulls his leg out and moves away.
Debrine pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Debrine throws a head kick that misses.
Gowing dives in for a single leg takedown but Debrine sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Debrine lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Max Debrine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cameron Gowing.

Gowing prevents Debrine from breaking the clinch.

Gowing avoids a wild elbow strike from Debrine.
Gowing tries for a takedown but Debrine manages to get underhooks.
Gowing is pushing Debrine up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Gowing shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Debrine pinned against the cage. Debrine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gowing tries to clinch up.
Gowing shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Debrine as he avoids it easily.

Gowing gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Debrine regains guard.
Gowing engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Gowing landing with the ground and pound.

Gowing is stalling in the full guard.

Debrine is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gowing defends well.
Gowing must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gowing pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Debrine is keeping the position for now.

Gowing gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Debrine is pressed up against the cage. Gowing has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Debrine down to the mat. Debrine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Debrine motions for Gowing to come forward. Debrine throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Debrine uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gowing.

Gowing manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Debrine on his heels. He'll look to pass Debrine's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gowing has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Debrine can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gowing controls the pace.

Cameron Gowing showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Debrine wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gowing has him pressed against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Gowing scores with a nice short uppercut.

Gowing's coach down at RIO Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gowing's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Debrine struggles to land a body shot inside as Gowing controls his hands.

Debrine lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gowing tries to score a power double leg takedown but Debrine sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gowing somewhat.

Gowing forces Debrine back against the cage and clinches.
Debrine is trying to pull guard but Gowing turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Gowing is trying to drag Debrine to the mat but Debrine just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Debrine is trying to break free.

Gowing blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Debrine is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gowing is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Debrine to the mat. Debrine regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Debrine has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gowing has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Debrine is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Debrine changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gowing fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Debrine misses with a lunging right hand
and Gowing counters with a series of strikes. Debrine will be more careful next time no doubt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gowing shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Debrine pinned against the cage. Debrine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gowing misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Debrine is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Gowing.
Cameron Gowing is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Debrine stuffs the takedown attempt from Gowing. Gowing gets slowly back to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Cameron Gowing.
I've got Gowing winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
