Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Harrison Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yashiro Kyu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yashiro Kyu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Harrison Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yashiro Kyu!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kyu decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Vaughn tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kyu manages to move to mount!
Vaughn avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kyu.
Kyu controlling the position easily from mount.
Kyu trying to control but Vaughn is having none of it.
Vaughn avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kyu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kyu wants to control the pace but Vaughn is squirming around nicely.
Kyu might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vaughn haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Vaughn regains half guard.
Kyu trying to pass the guard but Vaughn defending well.
Kyu is looking to stall here but Vaughn recovers full guard.
Kyu trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kyu has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vaughn is proving hard to escape from.
Kyu loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kyu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kyu wants to pass the guard but Vaughn is keeping the position.
Vaughn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kyu wants to stand and escape but instead Vaughn has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kyu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kyu is looking to stand up but Vaughn isn't so interested in that idea.

Kyu has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vaughn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kyu.
Vaughn scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kyu to see if he's OK.
Kyu sneaks back into half guard.
Kyu keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Kyu wants to control but Vaughn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Vaughn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Vaughn passes into side control, despite Kyu's attempt to control the position.
Vaughn lands a decent elbow from side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kyu regains half guard.
Kyu is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Harrison Vaughn will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kyu gets the takedown into side control.

Kyu swings around for an armbar but Vaughn sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kyu's guard.
Kyu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kyu has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vaughn's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vaughn is looking to work some ground and pound but Kyu has wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kyu tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kyu pushes Vaughn off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kyu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vaughn's guard.

Vaughn has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kyu off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kyu scores with a takedown into Vaughn's guard.
Kyu is breathing heavily.

Vaughn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kyu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vaughn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vaughn controls Kyu momentarily but Kyu frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kyu trying to control but Vaughn is working from the bottom.
Vaughn doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kyu looking to sit in guard and control but Vaughn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Kyu has his feet on Vaughn's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Vaughn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kyu clinches with his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vaughn doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Kyu turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kyu manages to end up in side control.
Vaughn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kyu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Vaughn misses with a strike from the bottom.
Vaughn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kyu's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Vaughn looking for submissions off his back.
Kyu wants to free his trapped foot but Vaughn is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Vaughn is looking to control Kyu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vaughn avoid being mounted?

Kyu trying to control the action but Vaughn is working from the bottom.
Vaughn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Harrison Vaughn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kyu passes Vaughn's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Vaughn controlling the position well.
Vaughn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Yashiro Kyu will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Kyu jumps into guard, dragging Vaughn to the mat.
Vaughn lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vaughn won't allow Kyu to get back to his feet.

Kyu pushes Vaughn off and gets back to his feet.
Yashiro Kyu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kyu throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vaughn was covering up waiting for the punch and Kyu finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kyu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kyu trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Vaughn manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaughn postures up in Kyu's guard and throws a big left but Kyu blocks it.

Vaughn is working Kyu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Vaughn is looking to work some ground and pound but Kyu has wrist control.
Vaughn lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vaughn wants to stand but Kyu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vaughn's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vaughn prevents Kyu from getting back to his feet.
Vaughn is looking to stand up but Kyu won't let him.
Vaughn postures up and lands a big shot to Kyu's brow.
Kyu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vaughn lands a couple of digs.

Kyu is looking for a triangle but Vaughn pushes his legs off easily.
Kyu trying to keep a closed guard but Vaughn is proving a slippery customer.

Vaughn decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kyu, up you get!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vaughn throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Kyu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vaughn's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Vaughn manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vaughn is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kyu is defending well for now.
Vaughn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Kyu gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vaughn wants to get back to his feet.
Vaughn is trying to maintain the position but Kyu is very close to passing his half guard.
Kyu misses with a head shot. Vaughn uses the momentum to regain guard.
Vaughn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Harrison Vaughn showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Vaughn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
