Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asu Kuren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Minobu Kurita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Asu Kuren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Minobu Kurita!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurita throws out a loose jab but Kuren uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kurita lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Kurita really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kuren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kuren cracks Kurita with a big right hand but Kurita just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round but I would say that Asu Kuren will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kuren has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kurita is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kuren has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Kuren's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kurita tries to escape but Kuren is in control.
The ground and pound from Kuren seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Kuren remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Asu Kuren spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
