The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado misses with a takedown attempt
and DD counters with a left and a right that stings Machado.
DD keeps Machado at a distance using the push kick.
DD digs a good body shot into Machado's ribs.

Machado fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging DD to the ground. Machado is now in DD's guard.
Machado wants to control from the top but DD keeps moving.
Machado throwing strikes but missing.
Machado sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed DD's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machado thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed DD's head.

Machado is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
DD is trying to maintain the position but Machado is very close to passing his half guard.

Machado looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Machado prevents DD from standing back up.
Machado looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks DD with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Machado is sneakily working for an arm triangle but DD sees it coming and defends easily.
