Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luther Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trenton Reuter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luther Mason has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luther Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trenton Reuter!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reuter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mason explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Reuter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mason is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Reuter tries for a takedown but Mason circles away easily
and Mason counters with a stiff right hand.
Mason slaps away a takedown attempt from Reuter, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Luther Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trenton Reuter.

Reuter instigates a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mason's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mason really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mason has managed to clinch.
Mason goes for a takedown attempt but Reuter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Reuter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Reuter tries to bum rush Mason with a series of wild strikes but Mason uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Reuter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mason has Reuter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Reuter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mason has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Reuter after a bit of a struggle.
Mason is trying to break free.

Reuter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Reuter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mason counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nice sprawl there from Mason as Reuter shoots in.
A head kick misses from Reuter.
Trenton Reuter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Mason counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reuter thinking.

Mason forces Reuter back against the cage and clinches.

Mason jumps guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mason is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mason controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Reuter can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mason controls the pace.
Reuter is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mason is working Reuter over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Reuter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mason not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mason's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reuter wants to control the position but Mason says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reuter can do anything to dispel that myth.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mason slows the pace down in half guard.
Mason seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Reuter for as long as he can get away with.
Mason winds up and cracks Reuter with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Reuter wants to control but Mason is keeping busy.
Mason is taking a breather. Reuter says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Reuter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Reuter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mason as he avoids it easily.

Mason tries to keep at a distance but Reuter has taken the fight into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reuter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mason is fending him off so far but Reuter persists. Nope, Mason circles away and we're back to standing.

Reuter drives through and clinches with Mason against the cage.
Mason is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Reuter can do to turn this around?

Reuter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mason defends it nicely.

and Mason cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Mason connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Reuter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mason pulls Reuter in close to his closed guard and prevents Reuter from doing any damage or advancing position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mason tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reuter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Reuter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mason's half guard.

Mason manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Reuter keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reuter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mason avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mason tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Reuter avoids it.
Mason is trying to force a seperation but Reuter has the dominant position.

Reuter manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luther Mason dominated that second round.
That's time! Mason's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Reuter fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mason checks it well.
Mason throwing a counter right hand but Reuter manages to avoid it.

Mason clinches up with Reuter and pushes him back against the cage.
Reuter is trying to stall.
Mason has Reuter pushed against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Reuter is trying to pull guard but Mason turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Mason has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Reuter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reuter is trying to break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
I would not like to be Reuter right now.
Mason scores with punches from the back.
Reuter wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mason is landing with strikes. Reuter can't take much more of this.
Mason lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Reuter hold on?!
Reuter just trying to survive but Mason is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Mason punishes Reuter with strikes from the back mount.
Reuter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reuter trying to control the position but Mason manages to sink in the hooks.
Mason controlling well, preventing Reuter from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mason is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Reuter can't escape the position.
Mason has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Reuter's body.
Further stalling from Mason.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Reuter trying to control but not successfully.
What can Reuter do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Reuter trying to control the hands but Mason breaks the grip.
Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mason biding his time, looking for the opening.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Mason has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
