Boyka comes to the cage accompanied by Three 6 Mafia - Its A Fight lyrics . Khaliev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: T-Wayne - Nasty Freestyle. Yuri Boyka had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khaliev drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Boyka loads up on a big right hand but Khaliev slips the punch.
Boyka throws an off balance right hand
enabling Khaliev to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Yuri Boyka has been cut.
Boyka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Khaliev paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boyka dips to his left and cracks Khaliev with an uppercut!
Boyka has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Some wild striking there from Khaliev.
Boyka misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Khaliev.
Khaliev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Khaliev throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Boyka fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Boyka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Khaliev moves away.
Khaliev throws a nice looking combination but Boyka bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Adam Khaliev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khaliev uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boyka.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khaliev takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

A big left from Khaliev misses.
Boyka attempts a counter takedown but Khaliev avoids it well and moves away.
Boyka thuds his right hand into Khaliev's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Boyka slips a jab and a cross from Khaliev.
Khaliev misses with a double jab.
Boyka misses the jab.
Khaliev misses the shot to the body.
Yuri Boyka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Khaliev closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Khaliev counters with a series of strikes. Boyka will be more careful next time no doubt.

Khaliev throws a right and a left that Boyka avoids nicely.
Boyka smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Khaliev dips to his left and cracks Boyka with an uppercut!
Khaliev misses with a hook. Boyka ducked under it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Khaliev with that takedown attempt.
A slow jab from Khaliev misses its intended target.
Khaliev gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Boyka is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
A punch combination from Khaliev misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Boyka misses its target.
Khaliev feints a jab promting Boyka to slip. Khaliev then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boyka slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Boyka lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Khaliev is rocked!
Boyka lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Khaliev up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Boyka from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Khaliev's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yuri Boyka!
