PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Wills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shabazz Shabott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wills kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Linkin Park - In The End. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Wills!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shabazz Shabott!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shabott shoots in looking for a takedown. Wills tries to sprawl out of it but Shabott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wills manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wills is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shabott sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Shabott clinches up with Wills and pushes him back against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wills decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Shabott wants to clinch up but Wills keeps it at a distance.

Wills shoots in for a takedown but Shabott shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Shabott wants to take the fight to the mat but Wills manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Shabott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake Wills will probably get the nod.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wills manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Wills has gone for a leg lock! Shabott slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wills's guard.


Shabott got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wills has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shabott has managed to get both his arms back between Wills's legs - danger averted.
Shabott tries to stand but Wills is controlling from the bottom.
Shabott must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Wills has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Shabott off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Wills.
I think Wills has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
