PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Sepulveda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lorne Greenebaum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sepulveda comes into the arena with Llorando se Fue blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Alejandro Sepulveda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 2, fighting out of London, Lorne Greenebaum!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sepulveda throws a shot from downtown. Greenebaum moves away and avoids it.
Greenebaum shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sepulveda sprawls well. Sepulveda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Greenebaum gets slowly back to his feet.
Greenebaum misses with a body shot.
Sepulveda throwing a counter right hand but Greenebaum manages to avoid it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sepulveda darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nice straight punches there by Sepulveda. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sepulveda.
Sepulveda defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Greenebaum.
Sepulveda was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sepulveda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Greenebaum moves away.

Sepulveda instigates a clinch.

Sepulveda pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sepulveda misses with the combination.
Greenebaum drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Sepulveda defends it well.
Sepulveda stuffs the takedown attempt from Greenebaum. Greenebaum gets slowly back to his feet.
Alejandro Sepulveda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lorne Greenebaum.

Sepulveda has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Sepulveda has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Sepulveda is trying to break the clinch but Greenebaum is controlling him.
Greenebaum has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sepulveda is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sepulveda breaks from the clinch.
Greenebaum throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sepulveda's waist but Sepulveda gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Greenebaum off to one side.
Sloppy strikes from Sepulveda. Those never looked like landing.
Greenebaum closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Sepulveda with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Sepulveda gets caught flat footed, as Greenebaum shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Sepulveda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sepulveda is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Sepulveda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Greenebaum doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Greenebaum manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sepulveda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Greenebaum gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Greenebaum postures up.

Greenebaum prevents Sepulveda from getting back to his feet.
Greenebaum working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Greenebaum sitting in guard here, content to control.
Greenebaum looking to sit in guard and control but Sepulveda gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Greenebaum trying to keep a closed guard but Sepulveda is proving a slippery customer.
Greenebaum pulls Sepulveda in close to prevent any damage.
Greenebaum not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sepulveda trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Greenebaum is looking for a triangle but Sepulveda pushes his legs off easily.
Greenebaum looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sepulveda seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sepulveda trying to stand up but can't free himself from Greenebaum's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A punch lands to the side of Greenebaum 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sepulveda throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Greenebaum.
Greenebaum takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Sepulveda misses with a body shot.
Sepulveda stuffs the takedown.
Greenebaum is looking to clinch.
Sepulveda swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Sepulveda tries to close the distance and clinch up but Greenebaum swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alejandro Sepulveda dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sepulveda misses with a wild combination.
Greenebaum changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Greenebaum walks into a jab.
Sepulveda connects with a jab.
Greenebaum fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sepulveda avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greenebaum fails with the takedown.
Greenebaum misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Alejandro Sepulveda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lorne Greenebaum.
Greenebaum looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Greenebaum misses with a takedown attempt - Sepulveda sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sepulveda lands with a straight right. Greenebaum didn't see that one coming.


Greenebaum is rocked!
Are you kidding me?! Sepulveda ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Greenebaum clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alejandro Sepulveda!
A less than humble Alejandro Sepulveda misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
