PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claus Baldemnic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Claus Baldemnic!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baldemnic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silver as he jumps to the side.
Silver is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Silver seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Baldemnic throws a right and a left that Silver avoids nicely.
Silver was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Silver slaps away a takedown attempt from Baldemnic, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Baldemnic takes the fight into the clinch.
A right hand to the body from Silver.
Silver tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Baldemnic just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Silver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silver misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silver pushes Baldemnic up against the ropes in a clinch.
Silver looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Silver gets through Baldemnic's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Silver is trying to force a seperation but Baldemnic has the dominant position.
Silver wants to break the clinch but can't.

Silver escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Baldemnic has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Baldemnic dives in for a single leg takedown but Silver sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Adam Silver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claus Baldemnic.
Baldemnic dodges the punch combination from Silver.

Silver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Baldemnic, pushing him back against the ropes.
Silver is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Silver can't break the clinch.
Silver lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Silver lands a right hand that snaps the head of Baldemnic backwards.
A head punch on the inside from Silver fails to land.

Baldemnic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Baldemnic thuds a left hand into Silver's body.

A combination from Silver does no damage.

The fight stays on the outside here - Silver looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Baldemnic circles away from the clinch attempt.
Baldemnic let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
A leg kick checked by Silver.
Silver tries to clinch up but Baldemnic circles away and keeps his distance.
Silver tries to clinch but Baldemnic is having none of it.
Baldemnic misses with a body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silver is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Silver prevents the takedown attempt.
Baldemnic wants to get back to striking at distance but Silver won't allow it.

Silver breaks the clinch.

Silver clinches up with Baldemnic and pushes him back against the ropes.
Baldemnic takes a knee right on the jaw!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silver tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Baldemnic's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Baldemnic scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Baldemnic tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Silver defends well and Baldemnic ends up having to push Silver into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Silver instigates a clinch.
Baldemnic tries to circle away but Silver has him pinned against the ropes.
Baldemnic misses with an elbow strike.
Silver lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Silver is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Silver is pressed up against the ropes. Baldemnic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silver down to the mat. Silver avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Silver tries to clinch up but Baldemnic circles away and keeps his distance.
Silver dips to his left and cracks Baldemnic with an uppercut!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Baldemnic is defended easily by Silver.

Baldemnic uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silver.
Baldemnic appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Silver batters Baldemnic with a massive right followed by a huge left! Baldemnic is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Silver lands a final crushing right hand to drop Baldemnic to the mat with a gruesome thud! Silver is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
