These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Gaul cracks Turpin with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Turpin looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can De Gaul finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

De Gaul looks to score with a jab to the body but Turpin is just out of range.
De Gaul ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

De Gaul sends Turpin crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! De Gaul is motioning to the referee to let Turpin up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Turpin tries a quick counter leg kick but De Gaul is wise to it.

Turpin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before De Gaul can pounce on him.

Turpin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
De Gaul keeps the fight on the outside.

Turpin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Turpin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from De Gaul. That one must have hurt.
De Gaul pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

De Gaul throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

De Gaul looks for the body kick but Turpin saw that one coming.

De Gaul keeps the fight on the outside.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from De Gaul.
Turpin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
De Gaul throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Turpin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
De Gaul connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

De Gaul lands a big head kick that sends Turpin tumbling to the mat! De Gaul takes a step backwards and waves Turpin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
De Gaul throws an overhand right that drops Turpin like a sack of potatoes! De Gaul dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Obelix De Gaul!
An out of breath Obelix De Gaul thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Randolph Turpin was interviewed post fight and said 'I've had a great career, can't complain, good luck to the kid.'.
