PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Jesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jesus has chosen Shakira - Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) (The Official 2010 FIFA World Cu as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws an overhand right that lands on Jesus's shoulder, as Jesus tries to avoid the shot.
Hunt throws a jab when Jesus was well out of range.
Jesus tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Good leg kick by Jesus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jesus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hunt.
Hunt misses with a straight right.
Hunt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jesus.
Hunt throws a big shot that misses.
Jesus looks to land a combination but Hunt avoids it well.
Hunt throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A slow jab from Hunt misses its intended target.
And Jesus tries to counter it with a takedown but Hunt pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hunt slaps away a takedown attempt from Jesus, before circling back to the center of the mat.

It looks like Mario Jesus has been cut.

Jesus wants to clinch.

Jesus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hunt is wriggling around but Jesus manages to pass to half guard.
Hunt wants to get back to his feet.
Jesus is controlling the pace.

Hunt pushes Jesus off looking to stand but Jesus dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Jesus is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hunt is looking to escape.
Hunt trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Jesus passes to full mount!
Jesus won't let Hunt get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Jesus pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hunt is in a horrible position here. Jesus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hunt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hunt tries to get out of the position.
Jesus throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hunt because Jesus loaded up on that one.

Jesus looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jesus pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jesus jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hunt manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hunt is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jesus asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Jesus tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Hunt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jesus on the ground.
Jesus is looking to take a break and control but Hunt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jesus sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hunt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Hunt throws a jab when Jesus was well out of range.
Jesus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hunt slaps away a takedown attempt from Jesus, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jesus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jesus decides to stand and escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jesus wants to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Hunt on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jesus shoots for a takedown but Hunt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hunt swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Mark Hunt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Jesus.

Jesus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hunt.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Jesus advances to mount.
Mario Jesus has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hunt is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Jesus unloads with some shots from mount but Hunt bucks and avoids them well.
Hunt tries to buck Jesus off but he can't manage it.
Jesus tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jesus trying to control but Hunt is having none of it.
Jesus controlling the position easily from mount.
Jesus putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Jesus with a couple of short strikes.
Hunt's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jesus controlling his opponent.
Hunt is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Jesus has taken his back!

Jesus is cranking Hunt's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Hunt! He's tightened the choke and Hunt is tapping out!
