Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ellsworth Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eg PorKvartir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellsworth Petersen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ellsworth Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eg PorKvartir!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Darius Henderson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
PorKvartir's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and PorKvartir duly obliges.


It looks like Ellsworth Petersen has been cut.

PorKvartir gets a clinch.
Petersen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

PorKvartir gets control of Petersen's arms and successfully pulls guard. PorKvartir will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Petersen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Petersen gets to his feet - PorKvartir follows without any prompting.
PorKvartir fails to land with a series of punches.
Petersen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has PorKvartir pinned against the cage. PorKvartir gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

PorKvartir closes the distance and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
PorKvartir has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Petersen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Petersen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
PorKvartir jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Petersen walks away with a smile on his face. PorKvartir gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ellsworth Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eg PorKvartir.
PorKvartir throws a right and a left that both miss.
A head kick by PorKvartir misses

and Petersen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Petersen slips a nice elbow through PorKvartir's hands, connecting with PorKvartir's forehead.
Petersen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed PorKvartir's head.
Petersen working over PorKvartir with some ground and pound. PorKvartir looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
PorKvartir is trying to stand up here but Petersen is controlling him well.

Petersen decides to stand up.

PorKvartir stuffs the takedown attempt from Petersen. Petersen gets slowly back to his feet.
PorKvartir doesn't manage to clinch there - Petersen circles away.
PorKvartir is looking to clinch but Petersen is avoiding it.
Petersen misses with a straight right.
Petersen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Eg PorKvartir is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

PorKvartir closes the distance and pushes Petersen back into the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Petersen struggles to land a body shot inside as PorKvartir controls his hands.

PorKvartir works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Petersen wants to stand but PorKvartir is controlling the position.
PorKvartir would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Petersen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. PorKvartir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. PorKvartir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petersen trying to keep a closed guard but PorKvartir is proving a slippery customer.
Petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
PorKvartir prevents Petersen from getting back to his feet.
PorKvartir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petersen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
PorKvartir is looking to stand up but Petersen won't let him.

PorKvartir stands up from Petersen's guard - PorKvartir perhaps looking for a knockout.
PorKvartir throws a sloppy head kick and Petersen moves out of range easily.
PorKvartir looks winded!
PorKvartir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Eg PorKvartir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

PorKvartir gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

PorKvartir has his feet on Petersen's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Petersen shoots in looking for a takedown but PorKvartir manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Petersen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
PorKvartir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

PorKvartir tries to keep at a distance but Petersen has taken the fight into the clinch.
PorKvartir blocks a punch to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petersen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
PorKvartir goes for a takedown in the clinch but Petersen prevents it.
PorKvartir is trying to pull guard but Petersen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Petersen stops a takedown attempt from PorKvartir.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


PorKvartir fails to land with a series of punches.
Petersen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

PorKvartir has closed the distance and engaged Petersen in a clinch.

PorKvartir escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Petersen's jab looks to have found its range, popping PorKvartir under the eye.
Petersen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? PorKvartir is fending him off so far but Petersen persists. Nope, PorKvartir circles away and we're back to standing.
Ellsworth Petersen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petersen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as PorKvartir sprawls well. PorKvartir wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Petersen gets slowly back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petersen circles away from the clinch attempt
and Petersen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
PorKvartir wants to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Petersen on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

PorKvartir misses with a series of wild punches.

PorKvartir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Petersen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Petersen tries to counter by clinching up but PorKvartir breaks away and moves out of range.
PorKvartir throws a right and a left that Petersen avoids nicely.
Petersen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Eg PorKvartir seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Petersen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming PorKvartir to the mat! PorKvartir manages to get full guard.

Petersen stands up from PorKvartir's guard - Petersen perhaps looking for a knockout.
PorKvartir is breathing heavily.
Petersen has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellsworth Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
PorKvartir tries to land a front kick but Petersen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Petersen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Petersen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. PorKvartir defends it nicely.
PorKvartir leaves Petersen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Petersen counters with a shoot takedown. PorKvartir fights it but they end up in guard.
Petersen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of PorKvartir's head.
PorKvartir wants to stand up but Petersen is controlling him.
PorKvartir is wriggling around but Petersen manages to pass to half guard.
Ellsworth Petersen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

PorKvartir has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Petersen is on him like a limpet, forcing PorKvartir back against the cage.

PorKvartir has Petersen pressed against the cage.

Petersen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Petersen tries for a takedown but PorKvartir sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - PorKvartir looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Petersen closes the distance and clinches up with PorKvartir, looking for a takedown. Petersen pushes PorKvartir against the cage but PorKvartir circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
PorKvartir falls off balance throwing a combination

and Petersen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Petersen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as PorKvartir works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Eg PorKvartir will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Petersen throws a knee to the head but misses.
PorKvartir is pressed up against the cage. Petersen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag PorKvartir down to the mat. PorKvartir avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

PorKvartir fakes the leg kick and cracks Petersen in the body.
PorKvartir throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

PorKvartir gets underhooks to prevent Petersen's takedown attempt.

PorKvartir wants to stand up but Petersen is controlling him.

Petersen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
PorKvartir lands with a nice combination. Petersen backs away looking to recover.
PorKvartir misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

PorKvartir is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Petersen scores with a couple of nice shots.

PorKvartir pushes Petersen off and gets back to his feet.
PorKvartir throws a right and a left that Petersen avoids nicely.

Petersen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with PorKvartir, pushing him back against the cage.
Petersen is trying to drag PorKvartir to the mat but PorKvartir just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Petersen can't get the takedown.

PorKvartir has had enough of the clinch but Petersen keeps him there for the moment.

PorKvartir successfully pulls guard.
Petersen stands up over PorKvartir, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Petersen lands a couple of decent looking shots.
PorKvartir wants to get back to his feet but Petersen passes into half guard.
Petersen not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Petersen lands strikes from half guard.
Eg PorKvartir is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Petersen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eg PorKvartir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got PorKvartir winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
