PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ein Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Krum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krum comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Explosive by Bond kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ein Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Viktor Krum!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krum misses with a straight left.
Krum fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stein uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Krum.
Stein scores with a nice right hand.
Krum tries to land a front kick but Stein steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Good shot there by Krum.
Stein tests Krum's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Krum lands with a straight right. Stein didn't see that one coming.
Krum scores with a nice right hand.
Stein swings for the body but Krum moves out of range.

Stein drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stein loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Stein not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Krum is trying to keep Stein in close.
Stein might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Krum avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Stein has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Krum is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krum lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Krum drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stein manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Krum has Stein in his guard.

Stein postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stein is on top in guard.

Krum manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stein manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Krum is in close to Stein's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Krum is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stein is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stein has escaped and now he's on top!

That was a close round but I would say that Ein Stein will probably get the nod.

Krum throws a lazy right hand but Stein sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Krum tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Krum swings wildly with an uppercut but Stein uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stein keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Krum's efforts to push away.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Stein as Krum tries to tie him up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krum misses with a punch to the body.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Stein.

Krum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stein takes one to the chin there.
Stein uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Krum.
Stein drops down looking for a counter takedown but Krum sprawls and moves away.
Krum jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Krum throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Krum's corner calls for a 1-2. Krum obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Krum throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It looked like Stein wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Krum lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Stein displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Krum throws out the jab.

Crunch! Krum slams his shin into Stein's torso.
Stein fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Krum manages to avoid it.

Stein's jab looks to have found its range, popping Krum under the eye.

Stein moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Krum throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Stein stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Krum fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stein has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Krum is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Stein changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Krum looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Krum sneaks back into half guard.
Krum is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stein's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stein's back!

I really don't envy Stein right now.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Krum holds on and takes a little breather.

Krum has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Krum controls Stein momentarily but Stein frees himself.

I think Krum has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
