Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rune Banchamek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haigh has chosen Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Rune Banchamek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 30 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Haigh!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banchamek closes the distance and pushes Haigh back into the cage.
Banchamek is trying to pull guard but Haigh has him pressed against the cage.

Banchamek jumps guard but Haigh stands there with Banchamek around his waist. Banchamek gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Haigh tries to work over Banchamek's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Haigh's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A short body shot lands from Banchamek as the two fighters clinch.

Haigh is fighting off a takedown attempt but Banchamek is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Haigh to the mat. Haigh regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Haigh controls Banchamek momentarily but Banchamek frees himself.
Haigh might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banchamek haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Banchamek has gone for a leg lock! Haigh slips out almost immediately though and dives into Banchamek's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haigh is looking to work his way around to Banchamek's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Haigh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Haigh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banchamek swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rune Banchamek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Banchamek jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Haigh walks away with a smile on his face. Banchamek gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Banchamek dives in and grabs Haigh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Haigh pushes down on Banchamek's head and hops out.

John Haigh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Haigh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
