Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

35 - 43 - 2, fighting out of New York, Tanishk Soni!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soni clinches with his opponent.
Rivfader goes for a takedown attempt but Soni pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rivfader stuffs the takedown.
Rivfader gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Soni.
Rivfader throws a series of punches but Soni avoids them all with ease.
Tanishk Soni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soni throws a leg kick
so Rivfader counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Soni is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rivfader dives into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rivfader looks up at the clock and then as Soni takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Rivfader smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Rivfader decides to stand up, so the ref orders Soni to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fight stays on the outside here - Soni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Rivfader counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Soni tries to roll over but Rivfader keeps him under control.

Rivfader takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rivfader wants to pass the guard but Soni is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rivfader is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rivfader throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rivfader thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soni's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rivfader is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Soni has managed to free his arm - good work.
Still in half guard, Rivfader seems content to control.

Rivfader is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Soni!

Rivfader seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Soni for as long as he can get away with.

Rivfader throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Rivfader drives through with a takedown into Soni's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rivfader stands up over Soni, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rivfader has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soni looking for a guillotine here but Rivfader defends easily.

Rivfader decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Soni gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rivfader to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Rivfader decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Soni, up you get!

Soni shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivfader sprawls well. He's pushed Soni's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rivfader looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rivfader shoots in but no luck this time.
Rivfader gets caught flat footed, as Soni shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rivfader is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Soni presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rivfader pulls guard successfully.
Rivfader has Soni pulled in close to control his posture.
Soni must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rivfader manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Soni manages to get himself to full guard.

Rivfader stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soni swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rivfader sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Soni's guard.

Rivfader tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rivfader is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Soni can do to turn this around?

Rivfader has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Soni misses with a looping left.
Rivfader appears to be looking for a big counter.
Rivfader displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Soni throws out the jab.
Rivfader gets a clinch.
Soni pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Soni lands a leg kick that knocks Rivfader off balance momentarily.
Rivfader throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Soni tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rivfader is in Soni's guard.
Rivfader advances to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rivfader connects with a nice short shot to Soni's temple.
Rivfader is controlling the pace.
