Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phill Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zerk Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes into the arena with Cult Of Personailty blaring out of the sound system. Zerk Benjamin will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks drives through with a takedown into Benjamin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Benjamin is looking to stand back up but Brooks counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Benjamin.

Benjamin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brooks stops Benjamin from getting back to his feet.

Brooks stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks tries for a takedown but Benjamin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Benjamin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Benjamin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Brooks. Brooks circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Brooks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brooks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brooks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Benjamin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brooks is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Benjamin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Brooks goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Benjamin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Brooks's guard! Nice work there by Benjamin!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Benjamin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brooks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brooks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brooks!

Brooks creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Benjamin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benjamin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brooks has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Brooks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Benjamin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Brooks has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Brooks went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Brooks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Benjamin.

Benjamin has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Brooks has been working on his balance at Island Top Team, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Benjamin.

Brooks moves forwards but Benjamin connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Brooks tries to pull guard but Benjamin holds him up against the cage and eventually Brooks drops back down to his feet.

Benjamin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Brooks shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Benjamin is trying to defend but Brooks finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Benjamin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brooks's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brooks's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Benjamin has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Brooks is in real trouble here. Benjamin gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Brooks is tapping out! Benjamin wins by rear naked choke!

A relieved looking Zerk Benjamin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
