Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Chester!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chester looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Chester takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chester is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ward's half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Well, if Chester is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Chester looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
My spies in White's ELITE Fitness Gym inform me that Chester has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chester is working for a kimura but Ward is defending it quite comfortably.
Chester thows a huge punch but Ward dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Chester is working for a submission of some sort.
Chester lands strikes from half guard.
Chester not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Chester missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Chester wants to work for an arm triangle but Ward is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chester has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ward defend it? Chester steps over the head and cranks it - Ward is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Chester!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Chester!
John Chester bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
