Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonel Gatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Ironside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bjorn Ironside told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ironside tries to clinch up.
Ironside doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Ironside jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gatti tries to counter with a takedown but Ironside is quick to defend against it.
Gatti digs a good hook to Ironside's body.
Gatti lands with a right hand.
Ironside misses with an uppercut.
Gatti fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ironside keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gatti feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ironside's calf.
Gatti attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Ironside wants to counter with a clinch but Gatti pushes him away.
Gatti uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ironside.

Ironside is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gatti.

and Gatti counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ironside won't be happy with that.

Gatti goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ironside has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gatti but great work by Ironside.

It looked like Gatti was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ironside.

Ironside looks to land a left hand but Gatti moved out of range nicely.

Gatti attempts a counter takedown but Ironside avoids it well and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gatti scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Ironside loads up on a big right hand but Gatti slips the punch.
Ironside with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gatti to score with a decent uppercut.

Gatti comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

As Ironside backs away, Gatti returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

and Gatti counters with a shoot takedown. Ironside fights it but they end up in guard.
Ironside is breathing heavily.
Gatti is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gatti stands and throws Ironside's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gatti advances to full mount.

Ironside defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gatti.
Leonel Gatti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ironside is trying to escape the mount but Gatti keeps good control and instead manages to take Ironside's back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ironside trying to control the action but Gatti just sinks the hooks in.

Gatti has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ironside has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Gatti is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Ironside has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Gatti has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Ironside taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Gatti doesn't care though - he's delighted!
