PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Von Peon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Valmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Von Peon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Von Peon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Valmer!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Valmer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Peon.
Peon throws a series of punches but Valmer moves out of range.
Valmer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Peon jabs Valmer right on the nose. Valmer blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Jimmy Valmer has been cut.
Peon throws an overhand right that lands on Valmer's shoulder, as Valmer tries to avoid the shot.
And Valmer tries to counter it with a takedown but Peon pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Peon misses with a jab, cross combination.
Valmer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Peon loads up on a big right hand but Valmer slips the punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Valmer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Valmer cracks Peon with a solid left hand.

Valmer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Valmer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Peon looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Valmer throws a strike but Peon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Peon's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Valmer is on top in guard.

Peon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Peon tries to get out of the position.
Valmer lands a couple of elbows.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valmer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Peon.

Valmer wants to work for an arm triangle but Peon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Valmer is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Peon defends it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Peon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Valmer moves away.
Valmer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Peon.
Peon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Valmer.
Peon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Peon scores with a hook to the body. Valmer takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Valmer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Valmer counters with a shoot takedown. Peon fights it but they end up in guard.

Peon has momentary wrist control but Valmer slips an elbow through the middle.

Valmer gets to his feet - Peon follows without any prompting.

Valmer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Peon to the ground. Valmer is now in Peon's guard.

Peon is pulling down on Valmer's head. It's preventing any offense from Valmer, at least for the moment.
Peon continues to hold on tight.

Valmer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Peon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Peon has escaped and now he's on top!

Peon stays in close to Valmer's body and controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Peon content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Valmer has locked up a guillotine! Valmer's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Peon is holding on here and Valmer must be using up a lot of energy. Peon has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Valmer gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jimmy Valmer!
