PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Solid Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Solid Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Snake.
Jackson scores with a jab to the body.
The fighters circle momentarily. Snake darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Snake throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Snake is in Jackson's guard.
Snake trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.

Snake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snake has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snake throws a strike but Jackson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Snake wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him.
Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Snake seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Snake looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Snake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Snake pulls Jackson in to control the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Snake wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Snake closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Snake uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jackson.
Snake lands with a hook. Jackson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Snake throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.
A jab from Jackson does it's job there.
Nice straight punches there by Jackson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jackson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snake takes a shot right to the bread basket.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Snake.
Snake throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease.
Jackson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Snake misses with a double jab
and Jackson counters with a left to the body.
Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Snake slips the punch.
Jackson throws a body shot but no joy.
Snake slips under a jab.
Donk. Jackson catches Snake right on the button with a cross.
Snake misses with a wild combination.
Jackson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jackson misses with a straight right.
Snake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Solid Snake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Snake walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jackson throws a jab when Snake was well out of range.
Snake falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackson counters with a nice leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jackson. Snake does a little dance to reset his feet.
Snake throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jackson counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Jackson dominated that round.
That's time! Snake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Snake throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Snake throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Snake.
Jackson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Snake tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily
and Snake takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Snake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Snake on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Jackson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Jackson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Snake.
Jackson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Snake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jackson.
Nice uppercut there from Jackson.


Snake is rocked!
Snake drops his hands momentarily. Jackson doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Snake staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Snake doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Jackson!
